Introductory Kriya Meditation Workshop:

Yoga is an array of ancient practices for the integration of the mind, body, and spirit. There are various forms of yoga, and all include some form of meditation. Yoga in its essence is meditation and Kriya yoga is a foundational meditation practice. It is a branch of Raja yoga which is considered the “Royal Yoga “. It is based on Patanjali’s yoga sutras which are considered the classic yogic text. Kriya is the only specific yoga mentioned in Patanjali’s work.

This workshop will focus on four basic practices of Kriya yoga meditation. No experience is needed in meditation or yoga. There is no need for any particular level of flexibility or physical fitness. The workshop will be 3 hours long and will include step-by-step explanations and practice.

After this workshop, you will understand the basics of Kriya yoga and how it compares to other yoga, and other forms of meditation. You'll understand some history of this lineage which is the same lineage that is written about in “The Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda. Kriya yoga is based on learning how to modify your own mind and body such that your experience of the world and life is expanded. By learning to focus our attention inward through various techniques we can begin to appreciate other aspects of our being.

Kriya yoga is considered an art and a science and anyone with a similar amount of dedication will achieve a similar result. It is a creative practice where you learn to master the basics and then begin to play with the edges. It can provide you with a great sense of well-being and joy while at the same time allowing for deep insights into your own mind.

In the current state of the world, such practices are essential for everyone. Not only for one’s own individual evolution and sense of well-being but a change in any one individual will lead to significant changes in all those around them. If you would like to be the change you would like to see in the world then Kriya yoga could be for you. It is taught in the fashion of Ganesh Baba, (Sri Mahant Swami Ganesh Anand Saraswathi Giri). Ganesh Baba is part of the direct lineage of Lahiri Mahasaya who is described in the well-known book “Autobiography of a Yogi”. In addition, he was head monk of a psychedelic lineage of Indian sadhus known as nagas.

In the afternoon after the workshop 30-minute individual sessions will be available for those who have taken the morning class and would like additional one-on-one instruction or anyone who has studied with Keith before in person or has previously taken the six-week online course.

If you would like to reserve a 30-minute one-on-one session for $108, please email [email protected] with your requested time slot and the subject heading [PRIVATE SESSION]. Sessions will be booked in the order they are received, with priority given to students who have taken Keith's online class and/or who are participating in the workshop. Couples are welcome.
