Etch - UK: Over/Shadow, Sneaker Social Club, Illian Tape

Etch is (one of) the aliases of Brighton born, London based producer Zak Brashill who first entered the music scene at large in 2012 which lead to a string of vinyl releases on Parris’ Soundman Chronicles and Dusk & Blackdown’s Keysound labels which in the early 2010’s paved the way for progressions and permutations in the current space of UK Bass music. Etch focused on his musical lineage of Jungle, Hardcore & Drum & Bass which came from the hand-me-down record collection of his uncle as well as the hands-on influence from ex-raver mum and auntie who exposed him to everything from Psychedelic Rock to Hip Hop to UK Garage.

As time went on and Etch’s production skills and interests developed he incorporated life and vision into his own sonic world – often sampling and being influenced by cinema and video games – while weaving a post-modern take on Dubstep, Grime, Garage, DnB & more – which has landed him to date around 30+ releases across some of the most respected labels in the game from Ilian Tape to Over/Shadow to Sneaker Social Club this includes 4 full length LP’s.

Never someone to focus on a single genre Etch’s music is a kaleidoscopic journey through sound and image and with that his DJ sets have followed suit – having played around the world since the age of 22, Etch jumps up and down the tempo spectrum delivering a sonic assault of bass, rhythm and sonics. He has also held residencies on radio stations across the UK.

With releases on respected labels like Program, Spearhead, Goldfat, and more—and a reputation for genre-defying innovation—Quentin Hiatus continues to shape the future of electronic music.
